Let’s See How I Cut Pavers with an Angle Grinders
Below is a step-by-step guide to cutting pavers:
1. Wear Protective Gears
In the beginning, make sure to wear protective gear to keep yourself protected. It is a must-follow while working with power tools. Wear your gloves, goggles, earplugs, hard hat, and a dust mask.
2. Prepare Required Tools
After protecting yourself, prepare all the necessary tools. First, ensure you insert the disc accurately into the grinder before connecting the power cord. In the case of a cordless grinder, make sure the grinder is equipped with the perfect batteries.
3. Draw the Cut Line Over Pavers & Set the Pavers for Cutting
You must draw a cut line to ensure the cut is straight. Use chalk to draw a cutline. You need to stay as close to the line as possible while cutting.
After you mark a line on the pavers, keep it on a flat surface with its end hanging over the edge. Set the pavers on the workbench, extending the cutting line slightly beyond the table’s edge. If you don’t have a workbench, try scrap wood. Place the paver along the marked line hanging sideways against the piece of wood.
4. Perform the Final Cut
Now you can start the cutting process. To begin with, place on hand on the backside of the pavers to ensure it remains stable. Then, place the grinder opposite the front of the drawn line and start cutting.
Follow the whole line with your hands on the paver. When you reach the end, the part of the newly-cut paver will fall down.
Thus, you’ll get the perfect size pavers you’ll need for your project. What will you do if the pavers are too thick? Just repeat the same process from the opposite side. Cut the pavers until you get what you need.
5. Finish the Curved Cut
To make the curved cuts, mark the curved line on the paver’s top side. You’ll be cutting about 1/8″ deep.
At first, cut following a straight line that is in contact with the curved line. Remove the leftover to start the next cut. You may need multiple cuts to break off the remaining curved line.
I hope you got a clear understanding of how to cut pavers. It is easy when you have an angle grinder and other required tools in your hand.
